Fourteen years ago today, the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans were taken in the deadly September 11th terrorist attacks. Like every anniversary of this tragedy, today is a National Day of Service and Remembrance in the United States. Together, we solemnly remember the thousands of lives that were lost.
On this day of national remembrance, please join us in praying for the families and friends who continue to suffer deep pain in the absence of their loved ones. Take a moment to read though Psalm 23, asking the Lord to provide comfort and healing as these men, women and children face their darkest memories this week.
Psalm 23 (GNTD)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths,
as he has promised.
Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me.
You prepare a banquet for me,
where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest
and fill my cup to the brim.
I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.
