Flora* was so brokenhearted that she stopped talking and eating.
As a very young child, she lost both her parents in an accident. Shortly after, her sister also died. Flora wept all day and was afraid no one would protect her or take care of her. But God had His hand on this hurting little girl from West Africa.
Not only was she cared for by her grandmother, but soon Flora made a great discovery. God revealed Himself as her loving Father through Scripture!
At age 10, Flora received her very first Bible, provided by American Bible Society friends like you!
“I thought only some privileged people should have a Bible,” she admits. Once she learned more about God through the Scriptures and experienced special Bible-based trauma healing sessions in her village, she began to recover.
“It is the Word of the God who is the Father of the orphans,” Flora says as she clutches her Bible. “Without God’s Word, I think my life would have been full of sadness and bitterness.”
