Chalani’s* life was full of darkness. When she lost both her father and husband, she turned to witchcraft. In Sri Lanka, witchcraft has been practiced for many centuries. Chalani didn’t want to be alone, so she gave herself to evil spirits. Soon, they were controlling her. She could not escape their torment.

When the people in Chalani’s village saw that she was practicing witchcraft they became afraid. They filed police reports against her and attacked her home. Even her family abandoned her.

But Chalani’s life was about to change.

The Transformative Power of God’s Word

One day, Chalani met a follower of Jesus. They shared the gospel message with her. Then they told her about End to End ministry. End to End is designed to help non-readers and people in oral cultures see, hear, and experience the life-giving power of Scripture. It brings God’s Word to life by showing the JESUS film, organizing audio Scripture listening groups, and facilitating Bible reading programs for those who can read.

Chalani was intrigued that there was a God more powerful than the spirits she served. So, she decided to participate in the End to End ministry at a local church. Chalani shares her experience,

“The church began praying for me, and as they did, I saw a great light that began pushing out the darkness. When I went home, I tried to continue my usual rituals, but I couldn’t. As I prepared to worship the spirits, I heard a voice say, ‘You have victory in me. I love you so much, my child.’ When I heard this, I gave my life to Jesus. My vision and desire are to serve the Lord with everything that have.”

That is the power of God’s Word! It transforms lives. Now Chalani has a relationship with her family, her village is no longer afraid of her, and she is surrounded by a body of believers who love her. And amazingly, Chalani has shared the gospel message with over a thousand people and has led many to salvation in Jesus.

Let’s Thank God Together

God, we thank you for rescuing Chalani from witchcraft and welcoming her into your family. We pray that the End to End ministry will continue to expand so that thousands more Sri Lankans will experience the healing power of your Word.
