On May 9,
150 Bible Societies working in more than 200 countries and territories around the world will join in a day of prayer. The annual United Bible Societies’ Day of Prayer is a time to thank God for his provision and to seek his wisdom and guidance in the shared mission of getting his Word into the hands and hearts of every person in the world.
The motivating belief of the United Bible Societies (UBS) is that the Bible is for everyone. In following this vision, the Bible Societies that make up UBS coordinate Bible translation and distribution, Bible-based trauma healing, Scripture-based literacy programs, and Bible engagement and advocacy.
This work cannot be done without prayer. Alexander M. Schweitzer, United Bible Societies’ head of Global Translation, said,
“Please pray for the Bible translators and the teams supporting them, so that 2017 will also bring significant progress in this vital mission.”
Will you join Bible Societies in praying for the global work they do to share the Bible and its message of hope with all people?
Pray For:
- Ask God to continue to provide the resources and tools needed for Bible translation efforts. Also, pray for Bible translators to overcome the barriers that prevent them from producing accurate, timely translations.
- Pray for the successful distribution of Bibles in all nations, especially in countries where Bible distribution is restricted, such as Iran.
- Ask God to expand the digital distribution of Scripture to reach regions of the world where physical printing is difficult and expensive.
- Pray for people participating in a Bible-based trauma healing program, like those in the Great Lakes region of Africa, to experience physical, emotional, and spiritual healing through the power of God’s Word.
