An article I recently read revealed that 72% of Americans stress over money at least once a month.

That’s a little over 7/10 people. That’s a majority.

Are you in that majority?

Maybe you’re caught under the mountain of student loan debt that never seems to shrink. Or maybe, despite consolidating your debt, you can barely keep up with your mortgage payments. Perhaps the cost of your child’s tutoring or extra-curricular activities brings the checking account balance uncomfortably close to zero. Maybe you feel ashamed of past credit card purchases you’re still paying off.

No matter the reason, you dread thinking about your financial situation—yet the worry is always there. Every trip to the grocery store and every doctor’s visit cause a pang of anxiety in the pit of your stomach. Do I have enough money? Will I have enough next time? you ask yourself. Will there ever be enough?

When it seems like you never have enough money, it’s easy to feel crushed under all-consuming worry. It’s not so easy to take a step back and open God’s Word. But when you take the time to meditate on Scripture, you can be reminded of God’s promises to take care of you.

Here are 4 verses to get you started:

  1. And with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs. — Philippians 4:19 (GNTD)
  2. But whoever listens to me will have security. He will be safe, with no reason to be afraid. — Proverbs 1:33 (GNTD)
  3. He strengthens those who are weak and tired.
    Even those who are young grow weak;
       young people can fall exhausted.
    But those who trust in the Lord for help
       will find their strength renewed.
    They will rise on wings like eagles;
       they will run and not get weary;
       they will walk and not grow weak. — Isaiah 40:29-31 (GNTD)
  4. Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid. — John 14:27 (GNTD)
