You wonder why you even bother building a budget.

Because every month—without fail—something breaks or the electric bill runs high or a forgotten bill comes in the mail. You’d almost find it funny if it wasn’t so frustrating.

Besides all the surprise expenses, simply living keeps getting more and more expensive. You didn’t get the yearly raise you thought you would, and meanwhile the price of everything keeps shooting up. Even going to the grocery story for this week’s meals bleeds your pockets dry.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by a lack of money, you can bring those worries to God.

While the Bible doesn’t say we’ll never struggle, it does say that God loves us, wants to take our worries, and will take care of us. Don’t believe me? That’s OK. Take God’s Word for it as we pray through these 4 verses of truth and peace together:

God, it doesn’t feel like you’re taking care of me right now. Please show me that you care for me and take care of me.

This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn’t life worth more than food? And isn’t the body worth more than clothes? Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren’t you worth much more than birds? Matthew 6:25-26 (GNTD)

When I bring my worries to you, help me feel peace and assurance that you hear me.

Those who know you, Lord, will trust you;
    you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.— Psalm 9:10 (GNTD)

God, when I feel anxious, help me know you are with me and that you want me to bring my worries to you.

Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:6-7 (GNTD)

Thank you for loving me. Help me feel confident in the knowledge of your love today. Amen.

Do not be afraid—I am with you!
    I am your God—let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
    I will protect you and save you. Isaiah 41:10 (GNTD)
