Life has a way of draining my bank account. As soon as everything feels under my control, I have to purchase new tires for my car, buy presents for six special occasions, pay overages on my utility bill and replace my broken phone—all in the same month. In a flash, I’ve outspent my budget by more than I care to know.
Have you been here before?
Whether you just received an unexpected medical bill, still haven’t received the promotion you’ve been waiting for or just welcomed an adult child back into your home, you feel stretched to your financial capacity. Your bi-monthly paycheck can barely handle your expenses—and you’ve started to wonder if your bank account will ever look “stable” again.
But what can you do? Your bills have to be paid. Your children need your support. And you can’t give yourself a raise. So, with barely enough money to make ends meet, you keep charging purchases to your credit card, feeling anxious, agitated and hopeless along the way.
In these moments, when financial stability feels beyond reach, you can meditate on promises of peace and hope found in God’s Word. These four Bible verses will get you started:
Philippians 4:6-7 (GNTD)
Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 58:11 (GNTD)
And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry.
Luke 12:24 (GNTD)
Look at the crows: they don’t plant seeds or gather a harvest; they don’t have storage rooms or barns; God feeds them! You are worth so much more than birds!
Psalm 55:22 (GNTD)
Leave your troubles with the Lord, and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.
