I’ve always craved a conflict free environment. In fact, one personality test described me as “The Peacemaker.” For me to function at my best, I need internal and external peace.
But we are living in chaotic times.
Covid-19 has turned our lives upside down. Our peace and security have been disrupted. Every moment outside our homes is met with fear and anxiety over the possibility of getting infected. Adding more stress are the ever-increasing debates over whether schools should open and who is or isn’t wearing a mask. There are growing divides over racial injustice and there’s sure to be more tensions over the upcoming elections.
So, how can we have peace with so much chaos around us?
We must turn to Jesus. He is the source of peace, promising peace “at all times and in every situation” (2 Thessalonians 3:16). If you don’t have peace, you can turn to him and he’ll give you HIS peace. There is no true lasting peace outside of him. He is the God of peace.
Today, if your heart is troubled and anxiety is overwhelming you, meditate on these Scriptures about God’s peace.
5 Bible Truths about Peace
- God’s peace is different than the world’s peace.
“I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.” – John 14:27 (CEV) - God’s peace is for you.
“You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.” – Isaiah 26:3 (GNT) - God’s peace will guard your heart and mind.
“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” – Philippians 4:6-7 (CEV) - God’s peace is a blessed gift.
“The Lord give strength to his people and blesses them with peace.” – Psalm 29:11 (GNT) - God’s peace is available in times of suffering.
“I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world.” – John 16:33 (CEV)
