In the aftermath of COVID-19, racial tensions, and other unprecedented events that rocked our country in the past year, the number of people who are experiencing symptoms of trauma has increased dramatically. But the church has a great opportunity to help connect those who are suffering to the Bible and its message of hope.
That’s exactly what Bible-Based Trauma Healing Ministry is designed to do! Through this ministry, churches can become safe places for people to share their suffering, bring their heartache to Jesus, and find healing in him. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people have encountered God’s love and peace through the power of Scripture.
And you can be a part of this world-wide community that is bringing the healing found in God’s Word to people experiencing trauma.
Pray
First, you can pray. Psalm 9:9 (GNT) says, “The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble.” God longs to heal and restore those suffering physical, emotional, or psychological trauma. Today, you can pray that through trauma healing ministry many will experience God’s love and healing. Here’s how you can pray.
- Pray for traumatized people to be healed. Ask God to transform lives affected by trauma. Pray for God to replace painful memories with his peace through trauma healing groups.
- Pray for churches, organizations, and ministry partners. Ask God to strengthen them as they care for traumatized people in their communities. Pray for God to empower a bold community that is passionate and called to partner in this work.
- Pray for the successful launch of several new events and resources. Pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, and favor over new initiatives that will bring Bible-based trauma healing ministry to places where there is a great need. Pray for God’s protection as these ministry efforts unite financial, prayer, and ministry partners across the United States to make healing sessions possible for thousands of individuals suffering from the effects of trauma.
Get Involved
Second, there are various ways you can get involved with Bible-based trauma healing ministry. Here are a few:
- Share this ministry with your church. Churches often struggle to know how to respond to those experiencing trauma. Through Bible-based trauma healing, churches receive the tools to help those who are suffering in their congregations and communities. They can check out https://traumahealinginstitute.org/about to learn more.
- Download the free resources. Trauma Healing Basics are simple, practical resources that help people learn about trauma and start to heal. These free resources combine mental health best practices and the wisdom of the Bible. It includes three resources: 3 Questions to Ask Someone Who is Hurting, Trauma Healing Basics Discussion Guide, and Recognizing Trauma.
- Become a healing group facilitator. If you feel called to help others who are suffering from the pain of trauma, you can get trained to lead a healing group. Check out https://traumahealinginstitute.org/events for more details.
