Alex* grew up in one of the most severely damaged towns in Eastern Ukraine — a place ravaged by violence and war. When the fighting reached their hometown, Alex and his family had to flee with no belongings — just the clothes on their backs.
Alex is not alone. Wars, disasters, and large-scale epidemics, along with poverty and abuse, have left millions of children without parents. They are living in extreme poverty, fending for themselves, and are wounded by trauma.
American Bible Society financial partners have helped provide God’s Word to thousands of orphans and hurting children. From war-torn Ukraine … to impoverished children in Egypt … to the gang-controlled streets of Guatemala … to hostile countries we can’t even mention —children are receiving the hope and healing that can only be found in Scripture.
Receiving the promises in God’s Word is such a blessing for children who have experienced trauma, like 16-year-old Beatryz from the Dominican Republic who was left at an orphanage by her mother at age five. “The Bible has helped me in moments of difficulty. I always encounter verses that help me,” Beatryz shared after receiving her own Bible.
The support of American Bible Society’s financial partners helps make this possible! We are grateful for their support in helping to change young lives like those of Alex and Beatryz around the world through God’s Word.
