A new Bible translation for the Xirhonga people, primarily located in Mozambique, is set to launch in 2017, bringing God’s Word to people who have waited more than 40 years for an understandable Scripture translation.
Xirhonga speakers do not understand their original Bible translation due to changes in their language structure. This updated Xirhonga Bible translation was started in the 1970s, but progress was delayed by 16 years of civil war. Thanks to the generous support of American Bible Society’s financial partners and the perseverance of translators in Mozambique, God’s Word is now available in the heart language of a new generation of Xirhonga people.
