“The Green Patriarch,” more officially known as His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, was welcomed to Bible House in October. He is the spiritual leader of the Orthodox church and is also known for his concern for the environment. For more than seven years, ABS has worked alongside the Orthodox Church to publish Bible literature for children and adults consistent with the Church's faith and doctrine. Just introduced is the first ever Military New Testament for the more than 25,000 active Orthodox personnel serving in the U.S. armed forces around the world.
Honoring the Patriarch's visit, an exhibition was organized by the Museum of Biblical Art (MOBIA) and features icons, Sacred Scripture, a liturgical Psalter, maps and rare architectural portraits of Constantinople. Also on display is a photo and video display of the Patriarch’s environmental work. These items will remain on view at MOBIA through January 24.
