In the last 2,000 years, the story of Christ’s journey to the cross has shaken up history. This Sunday, it will rock the world of television entertainment. Literally.

At 8 p.m. EDT on Palm Sunday, March 20, Fox will air “The Passion Live,” a musical event that will use pop music to tell the story of Jesus’ journey from the Last Supper to the cross. Actors will perform at famous locations throughout New Orleans. Hosted and narrated by Tyler Perry, the event’s all-star cast includes Seal as Pontius Pilate, Trisha Yearwood as Mary the mother of Jesus and Chris Daughtry as Judas.

The concept of a live broadcast of the passion story originated in the Netherlands, where “The Passion Live” captured nearly half of all television viewers during its 2015 broadcast. The show will debut this Sunday night for U.S. audiences.

By providing
Bible resources for “The Passion Live’s” online presence, American Bible Society is making it possible for viewers to explore the story of Christ’s last moments as presented in the Gospels. The resources on the site include small group discussion guides, family devotionals and character profiles from authors including Andy Crouch, Tara Teng, Jo Saxton, Matt Maher and Joshua DuBois.

“Our hope is that this will encourage Christians to start conversations with their friends about Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, and what the story means for their lives, so all may learn more about the life-changing messages found in the Bible,” says Andrew Hood, director of communications for American Bible Society.

American Bible Society is also helping viewers experience the biblical story by providing 360 video of the event, which will be available at ThePassion.com.
